The WATTLE Program

Empowering women to share, learn, lead, and achieve.

The severe underrepresentation of women in senior levels of leadership in the university sector, both within academic and professional roles, is an unresolved issue. WATTLE will bring together women identified as potential leaders across the university sector to provide an intensive leadership and networking program that is designed, and run, by female academic and professional staff in the university sector. Such a bipartisan agreement between Australian universities is essential to address this problem.

WATTLE is based on the highly successful New Zealand Universities Women in Leadership Programme (NZUWiL).

WATTLE is a grassroots organisation that runs independently of any specific university and is a volunteer, non-profit making initiative that reinvests all surpluses in the program. The WATTLE Steering Committee comprises senior female academic and professional staff from across Australian universities. There are up to 12 members of the steering committee and a balance of academic and professional staff is maintained.
