On Friday 18 July, we hosted the latest instalment in our WATTLE webinar series, launching a new theme: Leadership Unfolded. Kicking off this series was our first session, Women on Boards, featuring esteemed speakers Claire Braund OAM and Dr Sue Barrell AO FTSE. The discussion was facilitated by Professor Virginia Kilborn, WATTLE Founder and Chief Scientist at Swinburne University of Technology.
The session covered gender diversity on company boards, and how it has been shown to bring many benefits to an organisation. It was discussed that, despite recent improvements, there is a need for greater representation of women board members. Why is it important, what can you gain from being a board member and how do you prepare for the role?
The webinar explored these questions, offering insights into the value of board diversity, the opportunities board membership can offer, and practical steps to position yourself for board service.
